THE INFLUENCE OF STUDENT’S MOTIVATION AND LECTURER’S QUALITY TO LENGHT OF STUDY AT THE FACULTY OF TECHNICS, JAKARTA MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY

The Influence of Student’s Motivation and lecturer’s quality to length of study at the Faculty of Techniques Jakarta Muhammadiyah University. A Thesis of Master degree Program for Master of Management, Jakarta Muhammadiyah University, 2006.
The objective of the research is to examine: (1) the influence of Student’s Motivation to length of study, (2) the influence of lecturer’s quality to length of study, and (3) the influence of both Student’s Motivation and lecturer’s quality concurrently to length of study.
The research was conducted from July to December 2005. This associative research aims to explain the status of variables observed and the influence among those variables. Three variables of this study are: Student’s Motivation (X1) and lecturer’s quality (X2) as independent variable, and length of study (Y) as dependent variable. In order to obtain data of those variables, 97 people were observed as sample (based on error level of 5%) out of 933 students of Faculty of Techniques Jakarta Muhammadiyah University.
The result of this research shows that: (1) There is a positive and significant correlation between Student’s Motivation and length of study, which is described by correlation coefficient r = 0.5308 and determination coefficient (R square) = 0.3897. F count is 36.3459 and F table is 3.012, (2) There is a positive and significant correlation between lecturer’s quality and length of study, which is described by correlation coefficient r = 0.7496 and determination coefficient (R square) = 6.7735.10-5. F count is 120.2021 and F table is 3.012, and (3) There is a positive and significant correlation between both Student’s Motivation and lecturer’s quality concurrently towards length of study, which is described by the score of double correlation coefficient 0.7497 which is much bigger than r table 0.202 and determination coefficient (R square) = 0.561991 through a double regression equation model = 10.7518 – 0.001658 X1 + 0.74384 X2
The significant test of double correlation coefficient shows that F count is 60.3036 and F table is 3.012. As F count > F table, so Ho is rejected, which means that there is an influence of both Student’s Motivation and lecturer’s quality concurrently towards length of study , and it could be empirically proved.
